Walking in Washington!

Packed like sardines in the suburban, we drove up to DC for the weekend. This time we had a few extras with us; Ashley, Kelly and cousin Will flew in from KC for the trip. The first thing we did was drive straight to the DC Zoo, where we visited with lots of reptiles, monkeys, elephants and prairie dogs. A lot of the larger animals were cold and put away by the time we got to their area. The monkeys and gorillas were our favorite because they were the most active.
AP and Will watching the turtles swimming around.
Saturday morning, Sooz and I went to a nearby consignment sale and brought back some new toys for Will to enjoy while the rest of us explored the Washington Mall for the day.

Our first stop was the Air and Space Museum.
Next, we walked through the Natural History Museum.

After lunch at our favorite stop, Old Ebbit's Grill, we ran into some friends from play group! What are the chances? So glad we were able to visit with them! Little Liam looked precious in his new lion hat :)
It was also the first weekend of the Cherry Blossom Festival while were there and various activities were taking place all over the mall.

We came home to a sleepy boy, but some BIG NEWS! Will took his first steps while hanging out with Grandpa and Granny Pfanny (He also did it again Sunday morning with Big Will, but Adam and I missed both times.)
We went back out for some late night bowling with Dave. He was thrilled to show off his bowling skills, even if he only won by 1 point! Flat Stanley came along as well (I'm hosting Flat Stanley for my cousin in Charleston).
Hanging out with the boys before heading back to Raleigh.

Will continues to be a great traveler. He slept the entire way there and then 3 hours on the way back....yay! We had a great time and look forward to coming back again this summer!
